Gate for the house in Manadas

Already years ago I made a design for a new gate of our hous in Manadas on Sao Jorge. I wanted the gate to be a picture, combining the typical elements of the environment: the tail of a whale and the silhouette of the Pico vulcano at the horizon. Only after the gate was installed I found out that you can actually see Pico through the gate. Am amazing view!

It was difficult to find a specialist that could make the complex metal work, until I met Herbert Wietreich, who lives with his wife and children in the neighboring village of Urzelina. I hope to do some more projects with him.
